In a workplace this scale, the space between destinations matter as much as the destinations themselves. For Google in New York, IA turned circulation into a defining part of the experience, creating a journey through historic Chelsea that invites people to cross paths, pause, recharge, and discover something unexpected along the way.

Connection in Motion
At the scale of Google’s New York workplace, circulation becomes social infrastructure. A 450-foot internal “highway” creates a clear path between key destinations, with places to meet, work, recharge, and gather unfolding along the way. Floor markings make navigation intuitive, while moments to pause and connect turn an everyday journey into a more active, social experience.

Discovery Along the Way
Throughout the workplace, IA uses design to turn everyday movement into moments of discovery. A quieter retreat area supports activities ranging from massage and exercise to yoga, while tactile installations introduce visual interest without relying on conventional digital displays.

Even the connections between buildings become part of the experience. IA’s renovation of a 1930s Art Deco pedestrian bridge creates a transition between historic spaces while framing views of Manhattan. A kinetic installation of 66 individually powered rotating metal prisms responds to changing daylight, transforming the passage throughout the day.

Together, these interventions make circulation more than infrastructure. They create a workplace that encourages people to move, pause, connect, and experience the environment in new ways.
