At GitHub’s San Francisco headquarters, IA transformed a dark multistory atrium into a shared expression of the community behind the platform. “Commit to the Future” connects workplace and all-hands space through hundreds of translucent components, giving a distributed company a visible center for belonging, contribution, and collective momentum.

Contribution Becomes Spatial Experience
The installation begins with GitHub’s contribution graph, where individual actions accumulate into a larger pattern of participation. Hundreds of polycarbonate components translate that digital idea into three dimensions, making many small inputs visible as a single composition. From one position, the pieces resolve into Mona, GitHub’s mascot. A few steps away, the image dissolves into an abstract constellation. The changing view asks people to move before the full story appears. By converting a familiar interface into physical space, IA created a recognizable expression of open-source culture that can be understood by employees, visitors, and event audiences without relying on conventional signage.

Movement Reveals Collective Work
Closer inspection reveals GitHub octicons and words contributed by community members, giving the sculpture a sense of collective authorship. Polycarbonate provides durability, translucency, and reflection within the glass atrium, while integrated lighting produces a glow that shifts with daylight and becomes more pronounced after dark. The components remain fixed, yet the installation changes as viewers circle it and move between floors. It now anchors events, draws visitors into the atrium, and creates a common experience across the workplace. The work makes invisible collaboration tangible and reinforces a central GitHub idea: understanding depends on perspective, participation, and what each person contributes.
